The East Coast Triples & Pairs Week at Potters fabulous Hopton-on-Sea Resort provided another memorable week of short mat bowls in the International Arena. The East Coast Triples was played from Tuesday onwards with the final and third place play-off taking place on Friday morning. Alan Taylor, Paul Taylor & Jo Clements are the new holders of the cup after beating Hazel Spry, Phil Spry & Colin Sharp in an excellent final which was much appreciated by all those who attended. The third place play-off also provided a close encounter with North Yorkshire’s David Brown, David Hunton & Keith Hughes coming out on top against last years champions Andy Noble, Donna Mills & Michael Rice of Suffolk. The East Coast Pairs was played on three evenings with the final and third place play-offs taking place on Thursday evening. The final went down to the wire with East Harling’s duo of Jill Hayman & George Hume beating Bill Gearing & Julia Bruce of Hertfordshire by just one shot. The popular Essex pairing of Carol & Bob Taylor were in great form in the third place play-off and they secured a seven shot win against Cambridgeshire’s Joe Peters & Charlie Waling.
