Following the successful reopening of Hingham Sports Hall to short mat bowls last week, and the well attended Norfolk Over 60’s Squad Day last Thursday, another Norfolk Over 60’s Day will take place this Thursday on the 30th April. The Sports Hall remains closed to racquet sports etc at the moment but thankfully both Norfolk Over 60’s and the Hingham Short Mat Bowls Club have been able to fully resume their activities. With many Norfolk Over 60’s bowlers attending the ever popular Potters East Coast Triples & Pairs Week at Potters Resort in Hopton-on-Sea on Bank Holiday week there will not be a Squad Day on the 7th May, this has been moved to the 14th May. Up to date details of the Norfolk Over 60’s fixtures and squad days can always be found on the Over 60’s section of the Norfolk web site https://www.shortmatnorfolk.co.uk/over-60-s/overs-60-s-fixture-list.html All Norfolk short mat bowlers aged 60 or above are reminded that they are welcome to attend any squad days to enjoy the company of other bowlers. Three 9 end games are played in the morning with refreshment breaks between each session giving you time for a catch-up with fellow bowlers and a chance to put the world to rights. The cost is just £5 which includes all teas and coffees and biscuits. Those who wish to extend their day of bowls can then stay to enjoy a 15 end game after a break to eat their packed lunch. This session is also included in the £5 playing fee and normally ends just after 3pm. All you have to do is arrive before 9.30am and book on with Teresa at the Control Desk and you will be made very welcome. Why not speak to some of your bowling friends at your club and bring them with you to enjoy a relaxed day of short mat bowls.
