Horsford Blue earned a rare 14-0 maximum win in the City of Norwich League. Visitors Costessey only lost by 56-42 on shots overall but lost on all four mats. Dennis Seaton’s triple led the way with a 15-9 win for a jubilant Horsford Blue team. Horsford Heroes earned a valuable 11-3 away win at Windows in the big City League match of the week between two of the big four teams involved in the title race. The result keeps them two points ahead of First Bus and with a game in hand. John Aggas skipped his triple to a 14-5 win, Chris Woodhouse’s triple won 15-7 and Vic Webster’s Horsford triple drew 9-9 with Nigel Hurn’s triple as the visitors carved out an important win. Mark Tuttle was the only Windows skip to win. Title contenders Thorpe Marriott entertained Horsford Gold and a maximum win would have taken Marriott into the top spot but their mid-table visitors put a hole in Marriott’s title ambitions with an unexpected 11-3 away win. The evening started well for Thorpe Marriott as Gavin Gray, Lesley Turner & Tony Turner won 16-12 and Derek Sheldrake’s home triple drew 13-13. But the second half belonged to Horsford Gold as Mick Dale’s triple won 18-7 and Chris Walsgrove’s triple won 11-3. Second placed First Bus were in great form at British Rail where they won 13-1. Lianne Mills’ triple won 15-3, Bob Oatway’s triple won by 14-5 and Glennis Holmes’ triple won 10-8 while Jane James’ triple drew 10-10 to ensure only one point was dropped by the visitors. City Shield action saw Horsford Heroes reach the final after their second leg game at home to Thorpe Marriott finished in a 4-4 draw as did the first leg at Marriott. A superior shot difference proved enough to take the Heroes through. Horsford Gold reached the semi-finals after winning 6-2 at First Bus following a 4-4 draw in the first leg at Horsford.
