Wortwell Charity Triples Tournament

Last Saturday saw teams enter the annual Charity Triples Tournament at Wortwell. Once again Guide Dogs was the chosen charity with representatives and dogs coming along to give support on the day. As you might expect there was a range of ‘doggie’ merchandise on sale including greetings cards, notebooks, badges and bags. The ever popular club raffle was extremely well supported with teams donating a lovely selection of prizes including a cash meal voucher donated by local pub, the Needham Red Lion. In addition there was a fund raising numbers board with a cash prize.

Early stages with much to think about

The event attracted 16 teams from far and wide with Thorpe Marriott and Thetford particularly well represented. Following a ‘blind draw’ the teams were spread over 4 mats and proceeded to play a round robin format. Points were duly allocated with the top 2 teams from each group going through to the knockout stage.

The last 8 battled it out before the semi-finals were finally decided. Thorpe Marriott’s Hit and Hope playing Bulldogs from Thetford whilst Thetford Thunder were drawn against Us and Him. Hit and Hope narrowly beat Bulldogs 5-4 and Thetford Thunder, being true to their name, coming home 15-2 winners.
