A gap has now developed in the City of Norwich League between the top three and the rest after wins by Horsford Heroes and Windows saw them join Thorpe Marriott in an exciting three horse title race. All three teams have now won five matches each, and lost just one each, leaving First Bus, Horsford Gold and Costessey filling up the mid table places with only five points separating them. Things look bleak for the bottom three of British Rail, Horsford Blue and Jarrolds who are struggling to pick up points with Horsford Blue now losing all their seven games played so far after going down 12-2 in their local derby against Horsford Gold in a game that saw Gold's Barbara Ayres, Phil Cotton and Ray Ayres win 20-5. Costessey's Will Townsend, Malcolm Southgate & Graham Tweed won 22-3 in their 12-2 home win against British Rail.
Horsford Heroes moved top after winning 14-0 at home to Horsford Gold and achieving a valuable 12-2 away win at First Bus. Top scoring in their win against Horsford Gold were Carol Aggas, Mally Kemp & Chris Woodhouse who romped to an 18-1 win against Mick Dale’s triple. In the away win at First Bus Woodhouse’s triple were the only Heroes to lose as they went down 15-6 to Di Quadling, Linda Tooes and Glennis Holmes but Roger Frank’s triple won 13-9, Lyn Frank’s triple won 9-8 and David Crosby’s triple won 16-10 as Heroes captured top spot in the league table. Windows maintained their good run of form with a maximum 14-0 away win at bottom of the table Jarrolds. Nigel Hurn, Andy Cheal & Wendy Cheal won their game by 14-4 leaving Windows in third place just three points behind second placed Thorpe Marriott who are in turn three points behind leaders Horsford Heroes. A great race for the title looks in prospect between the big three.
