Carter cruise into Norwich Cup final

After bringing home a 12-4 lead from their Norwich Cup semi-final first leg tie at Hevingham there was never a serious doubt that the second leg at Drayton would see Bob Carter claim a place in the final. Needing just five points from the night to guarantee victory Carter produced a perfect opening session as Elaine Willies, Rob Howlett & John Turner won 12-2 and Nigel Willard, Steve Bridge & Melvin Woods won 14-3 to stretch their lead to 16-4. Just one more point was needed and that was more than accomplished in the second session as Jason Woods & Simon Willies won their pairs game 14-3 and Jamie Forster & Gary Best won 11-5. Never the less it was decided to play the match to a finish and that gave Hevingham the opportunity to at least record one win on the night as Gill Bunn, Pat Hall & Aleck Haines beat Melvin Woods’ triple 7-5. The other three games all went Carter’s way though with John Turner’s triple winning 9-6, Simon Willies’ pair winning 12-5 and Gary Best’s pair winning 13-4 to earn Bob Carter a 26-6 aggregate win on points and a place in the Norwich Cup final against either Hempnall or Framingham Earl.
