With the Breckland League title already won by Wymondham the runner-up spot was still to be decided and that was secured by Connaught “A” this week. A 7-3 away win at close rivals Carleton Rode ensures that they finished six points clear of third placed Rode. Jill Davidson, Russell Davidson & Tony Oram gave the home side a good start beating Roy Taylor’s triple 20-11 but that proved to be their only win on the night. Two Connaught triples produced good wins to clinch the points needed with David Aldous, Richard Broad & Paul McDonald beating Karl Newby’s triple 16-8 and Elaine Willies, Simon Willies & Lee Fallows beating Neil Davidson’s triple 17-4. The remaining game was shared as Mike Minshull’s Connaught triple held home skip David Blundell to a 13-13 draw. Two nights later Connaught “A” played their final match of the season away to mid table Thetford where they crashed to a 9-1 loss with only Bob Oatway’s triple avoiding defeat drawing 15-15 with Dave Bourne’s triple. Thetford will be delighted with their performance in the final match of their season as Kate Crayshaw, Peter Scarborough & Chloe Suffolk beat Lee Fallows’ triple 18-14, David Brown, Jason Martin & Peter Harvey beat Paul McDonalds’ triple 18-9 and Mick Colledge, Clive Eke & Malcolm Burley won 17-10. Wymondham completed their league fixtures with a 10-0 win at Connaught “B” and a 6-4 win at Forncett. Hayley Osborne, Owen Cranston and Chris Mann led the way at Connaught with a 26-10 win while Val Vardy, David Chadwick & Jon Sparham did likewise at Forncett with a 22-9 win.
