Its that Mann again

Chris Mann of Wymondham won the Norfolk County Singles title for the second time after beating East Tuddenham’s Simon Willies 10-1 in the final. Willies took a single on the first end but from then on it was one way traffic as Mann powered his way to victory with two ends to spare. Chris Mann had finished runner-up in the last two Norfolk County Singles finals so will be relieved to have broken that sequence while for Simon Willies it was his third Norfolk Singles final defeat after reaching the final in 2017/18 & 2019/20. Two time champion Gary Best of Bob Carter won the third place play-off beating Halvergate’s Robbie Lamb 9-4. Both semi-finals were close with Chris Mann beating Robbie Lamb 8-6 and Simon Willies beating Gary Best 8-7. In the quarter-finals Mann raced to a 12-3 win against Bob Oatway of First Bus. Simon Willies found himself up against his son Chris Willies in a family affair and was 9-4 up with two ends to go with Chris closing the gap to just 9-8 by the end of a fascinating encounter between two England internationals. In the other quarter-finals Gary Best beat Melvyn Barker of Wymondham 9-3 and Robbie Lamb beat fellow Halvergate bowler Keith Cooke by 8-4.
