Norfolk Premier in disappointing defeat

Norfolk Premier suffered a disappointing 30-10 defeat away to Kent at the Mote Park IBC venue today. After their blistering win against Essex Premier in their last outing Norfolk Premier would have hoped to carry that form into their latest Inter-County Championship group match, but instead the home side collected the bonus points in all four disciplines scoring 198 shots against Norfolk’s 152. Jack Gray, Jack Marshall, Robbie Lamb & Jason Woods can be satisfied with their results in the fours where they won their first game by 8-5, and added a 9-9 draw, to collect three out of four points. Chris Willies’ rink added a single point with a draw in their second game but their 15-6 loss in their opening game saw Kent pick up the bonus points. The triples proved a fruitful area for Kent as they won all four games against Keith Cooke and Simon Willies’ triples to collect ten points. In the pairs Morgan Warnes & Gary Best opened with a 16-7 win but that was as good as it would get as they lost their second game by an identical margin while Simon Warnes & Jack Pye went down in both their games. The singles saw Wymondham’s Chris Mann lose his first game by one shot but win his second by one shot against Jody Frampton. Bob Carter’s Trevor Brown beat Frampton by 17-13 in the opening session but a 17-11 defeat in his second game left Kent with the bonus points in the singles. Manager Jack Pye will be determined to get his team back to winning ways next week when they face a tricky trip away to West Mids. Norfolk’s Chris & Simon Willies will of course be facing their former teammates in this vital clash.
