Wymondham back on top

Defending champions Wymondham returned to the top of the Breckland League this week after winning 10-0 away to Harling Unicorns. The home side put up quite a fight though and this was no easy ride for the Breckland League giants as the Harling triples kept in contention in all four games. Hayley Osbourne, Andrew Jackson & Chris Mann won 17-13, Billie Barker, Simon Warnes & Owen Cranston won 16-11, David Chadwick, Jack Marshall & Jon Sparham won 16-15 and Steve Easter, Melvyn Barker & Debbie Sparham won by 14-10. Second placed Forncett also achieved a 10-0 away win with Shropham their victims. Keith Humphreys, Linda Preece & Bryan Preece were top scorers with a 20-11 win while Rebecca Humphries, Tony Ottewell & Mike Smail skipped their other winning triples. Connaught “A” are in third place after they emerged with a narrow 6-4 away win at Hingham. Mike Minshull’s Connaught triple helped to secure the match points with a 21-11 win against Sheila Bragg’s triple while Bob Oatway skipped Connaught’s other winning triple beating Mike White’s triple 14-11. Hingham’s four points were earned by Will Townsend, Peter Giddings & Joy Townsend who beat Elaine Willies, Richard Broad & Simon Willies 14-13 and Pam Chapman, John Chapman & Graham Tweed who won by 15-12 against Paul McDonald’s triple. Carleton Rode remain a force in the Breckland and proved too hot for visitors Hingham to handle. Michael Newby, Terry Newby & Karl Newby racked up a 25-6 win while Russell Davidson’s triple won 17-7 and Graham Mobbs' triple won 15-12. Hingham’s only win was gained by Ann Stevenson, Margaret Hunter & Sheila Bragg who beat home skip Neil Davidson by 15-12.
