Maurice Kemp - Rest in Peace

The NCSMBA is saddened to learn that Maurice Kemp of Hevingham SMBC, who previously played for First Bus for many years in the City of Norwich League, died last night from Covid 19. Maurice was a popular and familiar face on the local short mat bowls scene and will be missed by all. The NCSMBA sends its condolences to Janet and the family. We have also been informed that both Peter and Jessie Grover have recently passed away. Peter and Jessie, together with Eddie and Eva Medler, were responsible for introducing short mat bowls to Hevingham in 1989. Peter was Hevingham Club Secretary for a number of years. We have also been told that Gordon Clarke, who moved away from Norfolk several years ago, died late last year. Gordon was a member of Bonds SMBC before moving on to play for Deaf Sports and then East Tuddenham. He was also a member of the Norfolk County Squad for some years in the late 1990’s and early 2000’s. Gordon Clarke, with his wife Kathy, was runner-up in the South-East Region Pairs in 2000-01 which was played at Manea in Cambridgeshire. The following season he won the Norfolk Qualifying heat of the National Mixed Fours playing with Kathy and the father and daughter duo Peter and Kerry Tuttle of Anglian Windows.
