Pye, Davidson & Walker head to Chelmsford

This weekend sees the latest SMPT event take place in Chelmsford with the “Bowls is Bowls World Fours Masters” being played on Saturday and the “Bowls is Bowls World Pairs” scheduled for Sunday. Hempnall’s Neil Davidson and Wymondham’s Jack Pye will compete in the Fours event playing with Steve McAlister and Mitchell Young and will be considered serious contenders. McAlister has an incredible record of success in the sport which include an Irish National Pairs title, two English National Singles titles plus one English National Triples title and one English National Fours title. He was also twice a British Isles Pairs Champion and captured the World Singles crown in 1991.  Mitchell Young won the English National Under 18’s title in 2013. In the SMPT World Pairs on Sunday Jack Pye is playing with McAlister and they begin their quest for glory at 9.45am with a game against Swedish pair Ulf Hallstrand and Lars Hansen of Stromstad BC. Jenny Walker of Thorpe Marriott partners Neil Davidson and their opening game is against Northern Ireland’s A Dyche and A Evans at 9am.
