Tim Stone to appear in 4 Team event

Tim Stone will make a welcome return to short mat bowling after accepting an invitation to attend the special 4 Team event at Hingham Sports & Social Club which will be held on the 15th January. The event is being supported by both the Norfolk County and the Norfolk Over 60’s Squads in support of the newly formed Thetford SMBC. Tim Stone started playing short mat bowls as a young lad with the Electricity club in Duke Street in the early days of the City of Norwich League. It was obvious then that Tim was a natural bowler and would make a name for himself in the sport. Sadly he was quickly lost to short mat bowls but that proved to be the long games gain as he went on to join Acle BC. He eventually joined the World Pro Tour and rose to be ranked 18 in the World. He was a Junior International from 1998 to 2003, Player of the Series in the British Isles Championships in 2003 and an England international in 2009, 2010 & 2011. Among his triumphs was beating former World Champion David Gourlay in the World Indoor Bowls Championships at Potters in Hopton in 2011, one year after losing to five time champion Alex Marshall. With well over a hundred of his Acle club members supporting him in the famous International Arena it is a match Tim will always remember with pride.
