Halvergate’s hopes of challenging Bob Carter for the Tens League title took another blow as they were beaten 3-0 at Hevingham. The home side took a thirteen shot lead in the first half as Marjorie Hall & Selwyn Goldsmith (pictured) beat John Norfolk & Keith Cooke 21-7 while a tight triples game on the other mat saw Robbie Lamb’s Halvergate trio snatch a 15-14 win against David Sharp’s triple. The visitors started the second half strongly but Lesley Crowe & David Bunn fought back to defeat Donna & David Lamb 20-16 while another tight triples game saw Ray Lamb’s Halvergate triple beat Aleck Haynes’ triple by just two shots. Connaught fared better against Hevingham inflicting a 4-0 defeat on their understrength visitors. Three of the games were tight with Hevingham leading by one shot at the interval. Diane Adcock & Sheila Bragg were held to a 15-15 draw by Gill Bunn & David Sharpe while Marjorie Hall’s triple beat John Winup by 10-9. Elaine & Bob Oatway beat Betty Cox & Aleck Haynes by 17-14 in a close game but the home side gained maximum points as Mike Minshull’s triple beat Richard Moore & Alan Bunn 27-6 as the away triple played without a number two.
