East Harling get that championship feeling

Harling are the Summer Afternoon League champions despite being held to a 4-4 draw by visitors Shropham in their final match. Two wins were enough for Harling with Stuart Langridge, Juliet Langridge & Stephen Smith winning 17-6 and Len Deathridge, Glenys Hume & Carol Newman winning 16-7. Hingham entertained Watton with the visitors needing an 8-0 away win if they were to snatch the runners-up spot from Hingham’s grasp but it was not to be as the match finished 5-3 in their favour. Watton’s Pam Paget, Jane Fensom & Malcolm Southgate romped to an 18-7 win and Dennis Gower’s triple won 13-12 but Hingham did enough with John Hunter’s triple drawing 10-10 and Cynthia Powell, Pauline Wilson & Keith Thomas recording a thumping 16-4 win. Thetford finished off their season with a solid 6-2 home win against Shropham with Peter Scarborough winning 10-9, Keiran Suffolk winning 12-8 and Jason Martin winning 11-5.
