Wymondham complete double over Halvergate

Wymondham completed the double over title rivals Halvergate after achieving a hard fought 6-2 away win. Neil Davidson made a rare appearance leading for Wymondham’s Debbie Sparham & Jack Pye as they opened with an 18-15 win against Kerry Greenacre, Ryan Fox & Keith Cooke. Halvergate’s Ray Lamb, Josh Baxter and Robbie Lamb made a great start in the other first half game and led 6-0 after two ends against John Jeffery, Simon Warnes and Chris Mann and the Wymondham triple failed to recover leaving the match drawn at 4-4 at the interval. The second session saw Neil Davidson, Debbie Sparham and Jack Pye storm into a 12-0 lead after just three ends with a maximum six picked up on the first end. Only three ends were scored by the Halvergate triple who were outplayed for the majority of the match as the Wymondham triple went on to win 29-6. Chris Mann, John Jeffery and Simon Warnes endured another poor start in their second game and found themselves 9-1 down against Kerry Greenacre, Ryan Fox and Keith Cooke after five ends. But this time they staged a remarkable recovery and after eight ends a fabulous count of five levelled the game at 10-10. From then on the Wymondham triple moved ahead and wrapped up a win to clinch a 6-2 points away win for Wymondham.
