Halvergate and Harling progress

Both Halvergate and Harling made light work in their preliminary ties in the challenge cup against Hingham and Deaf Sports respectively. A big 16-4 win at home for Halvergate gave Hingham an almighty task in the return leg at Hingham but Halvergate secured their spot in the first round with the second session of the second leg to spare. Harling stormed to an 18-2 win in their first leg at home to Deaf Sports with Steve Easter and Mick Tarrant in good form in the singles for Harling as they recorded wins of 15-7 and 18-3 in the first session and 13-6 and 15-7 in the second session. Deafs only win came from Gillian Amos, Alf Knowler, Caroline Mohammed and Robin Amos with an 8-4 win. It did take the second session in the second leg for Harling to confirm their status in the first round with an emphatic 18-0 win for Mo. Tarrant, Chris Jones, Ted Jones and Arthur Snelling.
