Kerry & Cookie win Memorial Pairs

The NCSMBA Memorial Charity Pairs was held at Hingham Sports & Social Club where Kerry Greenacre of Haddiscoe and Keith Cooke of Halvergate cruised to a superb 10-1 win in the final against Wymondham’s Billie & Melvyn Barker. In the semi-finals they beat County Council’s Lewis & Owen Cranston by 11-5 while in the other semi-final the Barkers beat Morris Taylor & Gill Coleman of Diss 14-2. All proceeds from the event will be donated to the winners chosen charity Arthritis Research. The Memorial Pairs, held in memory of all Norfolk bowlers no longer with us, had not been held for a couple of years because of date restrictions but it is hoped that the competition will now once again be held annually. The day did not start well when Competition Secretary Chris Mann was unable to attend, due to his fiancée Laura Hawksworth being taken ill, and Assistant Competition Secretary Jon Sparham found himself suddenly in the hot seat. Unfortunately a few problems emerged during the event that caused the competition to run late but they were eventually overcome.
