Despite the result not going their way this time the Norfolk Over 60’s enjoyed a great long weekend in Yorkshire. They played their annual match against Arthur Jackson’s Select at Easingwold on the Saturday, on Sunday the traditional Friendship Triples day of bowls was held with players from both sides playing together to enjoy a day of social bowls. Norfolk Over 60’s were hoping to retain the Annual Shield that they won once again in Hingham in 2025 but found a determined home side in super form from the start of this year’s encounter. Norfolk failed to recover from a poor start, which saw them 22-10 behind on points after two sessions, and eventually slipped to an 80-48 points loss. Never-the-less it was another memorable weekend with its normal mix of bowls and social interaction that makes this such a highly anticipated weekend for all involved. On the Sunday the two winning Friendship Triples were Julia Bruce, Jill Hayman & Trevor Knight and Chris Kerslake, Neil Robertson & Terry Newby. Organisers Teresa Goldsmith of the Norfolk Over 60s and North Yorkshire’s Arthur Jackson again did a great job of organising their teams for the weekend and are already planning next years weekend at Hingham Sports Centre.
