Norwich Cup holders Wymondham are through to the final after winning 43-33 at Thetford in a hard fought semi-final clash. Thetford led 5-2 after the opening four ends but Wymondham’s first wildcard was played on the fifth end and paid handsome dividends as the four shots scored counted as eight to give them a 10-5 lead. After nine ends Wymondham had moved into a 15-6 lead before Thetford’s use of a wildcard on the next end reduced the deficit to 15-10. Wymondham then reeled off a run of eight winning ends to build a commanding 32-10 lead but Thetford set about reducing the visitors lead with some impressive bowling and after 24 ends cut Wymondham’s lead to 35-24. But the next four ends all went Wymondham’s way and they led 43-24 with two ends remaining and there was no way back for the home side. Thetford then scored nine shots over the last two ends leaving Wymondham the winners by ten shots. Wymondham will now face Watton Expendables in the final which this year will be played over two legs on a home and away basis. Wymondham’s team comprised of Jon Sparham, Debbie Sparham, AJ Pye, Jack Pye, Steve Easter, Melvyn Barker, Billie Barker & Chris Mann. Thetford’s were Kelly West, Clive Eke, Neil Thomas, Suzanne Kenny, Glynis Holbrook, Peter Harvey, Jason Martin & Chris West.
