The NCSMBA is saddened to learn of the death of Margaret Hunter, a very popular member of the Hingham club, who passed away on Saturday 31st January at the Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital aged 84. Margaret last played on 3rd November for Hingham against Thetford in the Afternoon League with Will Townsend & John Chapman. In October with Rod Eglen they lost in the Hingham Club Pairs final after a one end play off. Margaret started playing short mat at Watton in 2006 until 2015. Whilst there she won several club competitions in the Pairs & Triples and also played at the Norfolk Over 60’s. Then onto Hingham where again she was successful in winning club competitions.
Perhaps her greatest achievements were in the Breckland League Keith Banks event where she was runner up in 2016 with husband John & Will and in 2021 with John again & Mike White they were the winners. She regularly played in the Breckland League and the South Norfolk League. On several occasions over the years Margaret and John played at Potters Resort at Hopton-on-Sea during the May and September events.
