Breckland Five Pairs action saw Wymondham and Forncett both claim semi-final places. Wymondham went into the second leg of their tie against Connaught “B” already 21 shots up and with home advantage the result was predictable. The visitors were unable to contain the home side as Wymondham racked up a massive 113-6 win on shots to reach the semi-finals and a tie against either Connaught “A” or Carleton Rode. Hayley Osborne & AJ Pye won 23-0, Billie Barker & Jack Pye won 23-1, Steve Easter & Debs Sparham won 23-2, John Jeffery & Chris Mann won 22-1 and David Chadwick & Melvyn Barker won by 19-2. Forncett went into the second leg away to Hingham already 3 shots down but the home sides hopes of reaching the semi-finals were dashed as Forncett pulled off a 54-21 away win to turn the tables on their opponents. Forncett won four of the five games with the remaining one drawn. Kevin Noble & Mark Watson won 12-3 as did Joe Lirocchi & Ron Butler. Gill Coleman & Linda Preece won by 11-2 and Martin and Becky Humphreys won 12-6. Forncett’s Brian Preece & Andrew Hutton held the home pair of G White & John Chapman to a 7-7 draw. Forncett will play Harling in the semi-finals. Connaught “A” lead Carleton Rode 56-33 after the first leg of their Five Pairs clash at Attleborough. Four Connaught pairs won with the remaining game producing a 10-8 win for Rode’s M & K Newby. Two Connaught pairs won by 15-5, they were D Liles & M Minshall and J Moon & B Oatway, while G Etteridge & R Taylor won 10-6 and D Aldous & P McDonald won 8-7. In the Breckland League Connaught “A” are six points behind Wymondham after winning 10-0 at home to Thetford. Mike Minshull’s triple won 22-5, Paul McDonald’s triple won 24-9, Bob Oatway’s triple won 19-8 and Simon Willies’ triple won by 20-17.
