Watton Expendables fought their way through to the semi-finals of the Norwich Cup after winning away to Halvergate in an exciting match. The home side made a perfect start taking four shots on the opening end. After adding a single on the second end they played the first wildcard of the match on the third end but saw it wasted as Expendables collected a single. The visitors played their first wildcard on the sixth end and it paid dividends as they took two shots, which countered as four due to the wildcard, and they took the lead for the first time by 8-5. A series of close ends followed and after fourteen ends Expendables had their noses still in front by 13-11. Halvergate then played their second wildcard but only took a single, counting as two shots, and the game was level at 13-13. Expendables played their second wildcard on the next end but this was wasted as Halvergate scored three shots and regained the lead by 16-13 which became 18-13 after eighteen ends. Halvergate then hit a brick wall, and got stuck on 18 shots for the next five ends, as the visitors roared back into the lead by 22-18 with a five on the twenty-third end proving very helpful to their cause. Halvergate were not going to be beaten easily though and kept pace with the visitors and trailed by just 24-22 after 27 ends. But the twenty-eighth end would give Watton Expendables a massive boost as both they and Halvergate played their third and last wildcards. Expendables won this vital end scoring three shots, counting as six due to the wildcard, and moved into a 30-22 lead with just two ends to play. Halvergate kept their hopes alive scoring two shots on the penultimate end, but needed a full house of six on the final end if they were to force a sudden death extra end. This was never likely though and Watton Expendables scored a single to complete a 31-24 away win and earn themselves a semi-final place away to East Harling. In the other semi-final tie Thetford are at home to cup holders Wymondham.
