The two unbeaten sides met this week in the Breckland League with defending champions Wymondham beating visitors Connaught “A” 8-2 on points and 102-24 on shots. Connaught’s David Aldous, Graham Etteridge & Paul McDonald pulled off a first half shock beating Chris Mann’s triple 13-11 but the other three games saw Wymondham totally in command. Steve Easter, Melvyn Barker & Jack Pye beat Graham Etteridge’s triple 35-4, David Chadwick, Jack Marshall & Jon Sparham beat Bob Oatway’s triple 29-3 and Billie Barker, Debbie Sparham & AJ Pye beat Simon Willies’ triple 27-4 as the home side dominated the night’s proceedings. The result leaves Wymondham eight points clear of Connaught “A” at the top of the table. Carleton Rode won 9-1 at home to Shropham with Jill Davidson, Karl Bunn & Russell Davidson beating Kevin Tingey’s triple 25-4. Connaught are through to the first round proper of the Breckland 5 Pairs after defeating Thetford 81-74 on aggregate in their Preliminary Round clash. The second leg at Connaught started with Thetford defending an eleven shot lead from the first leg. Three games were very tight with two finishing level at 7-7 and 6-6 while Thetford won the other by 7-5. But the two games which decided the issue in Connaught’s favour were a 15-2 win for Graham Etteridge & Roy Taylor and a 12-5 win for David Aldous & Paul McDonald. Forncett recorded a big 10-0 home win against Saxlingham Nethergate in the South Norfolk League. Top scorers on the night were Joe Lirocchi’s triple with a 20-12 win and Nigel Youngman’s triple with an even bigger win of 25-8.
