PREMIER TEAM EVENT
Its all to play for after day one of the British Isles Championships in Solihull with Ireland, Wales & England all on four points after they all won two games and lost one each. Ireland lead the way on shots after beating England 44-23 and Scotland by 39-33 but a defeat against Wales by 38-34 ended Irish hopes of a first day hat-trick. Ireland lead the way with +23 shots, Wales are second with +18 and England third with +7. Scotland are bottom after losing all their three games. Wymondham’s Jack Pye, playing as number three in Ryan Knight’s rink, enjoyed a 10-8 win against Wales and an 8-6 win against Scotland but his rink lost 10-4 against John Quinn’s Irish rink. AJ Pye & Gary Best are playing in Jody Frampton’s rink and lost their first game by 13-4 against Ireland’s Gary McNabb. In their second game they beat Andrew Evans Welsh rink by 7-6 but lost their third game 9-8 against Scotland’s Robert Lenza.
PREMIER INDIVIDUAL EVENTS
In the Premier Singles event England’s Matty Worden leads the way after winning 15-8 against Ireland’s Gary McNabb and 19-9 against Andrew Hudson of Wales and looks the firm favourite with a game against Scotland’s Lawrence Moffatt to come who has lost his first two games. In the Premier Pairs an upset looks on the cards. Sandy McDonald’s Scottish pair lead the way after beating England’s Jason McLean & Ben Pay 19-7 and then beating the Welsh pair 19-10. This leaves Scotland top on four points and +21 shots with the English and Irish pairs both on two points and Wales without a point. The Premier Triples is led by Ireland on three points and +9 shots, Wales are second on three points and +4 shots while England’s Adam Easthope, Craig Strong & Ross Dunkley are third with two points and +4. Dunkley’s triple lost 16-12 against Wales but beat Scotland 17-9. Ireland lead the Premier Fours event with four points and +16 shots with England’s Stan Stanton, Jack Knight, Ben Riley & Emily Thomas second on three points and +10 shots. England beat Kenny Murrey’s Scottish four by 17-7 and drew 13-13 with Nick Evans Welsh four.
“A” TEAM EVENT
Ireland lead the way after the first day with a maximum six points and +90 shots while England are second with four points and -8 shots. Wales are third with two points and -25 shots and Scotland fourth with 0 points and -57 shots. England beat Wales 43-40 and then beat Scotland 48-29 but lost 54-24 to Ireland. Bob Carter’s Morgan Warnes is playing at number three in Sam Harvey’s England “A” Team rink. They won their game 8-7 against Ireland and won 15-10 against Wales but lost their game by 8-7 against Scotland.
“A” TEAM INDIVIDUAL EVENTS
In the “A” Team Singles Andrew Jones of Wales leads on four points with Ireland in second place on two points. England’s Dan Rigby is third with one point and Scotland in fourth place. In the “A” Team Pairs England's Jack Marshall and Glenn Harvey are in third place after day one with two points and an even shot difference. Wales are top with four points and +15 shots and Scotland second with two points and +5 shots. Ireland lead the Triples event with four points, England second on two points just ahead of Scotland. Ireland lead the Fours with four points, with Wales second and Scotland third.
