CITY OF NORWICH LEAGUE

The top four positions remain the same in the City of Norwich League as all top four teams won this week. Leaders Horsford Heroes won 12-2 at home to Jarrolds who arrived at Horsford’s St Faiths venue as the bottom club in the league. The only bright spot for Jarrolds in their fifth defeat of the campaign was the two points collected by Sheila Andrews, Kelly Andrews & Steve Andrews in beating Roger Frank’s triple 18-6. This was enough to move Jarrolds off the bottom and one point ahead of Horsford Blue who have lost all their opening seven games. Chris Woodhouse skipped his Heroes triple to a 23-9 win, John Aggas to a 22-6 win and David Crosby to a 10-6 win as Horsford Heroes kept up the pressure on their rivals for the title. BURE LEAGUE

Bob Carter moved a step closer to retaining the Bure League title with a maximum 10-0 home win against Hevingham. They put the pressure on nearest challengers Halvergate by putting visitors Hevingham to the sword with wins of 21-7 by captain Jason Woods, 23-6 win for Jack Pye, a 23-7 win for Gary Best and a 20-13 win for AJ Pye. Bob Carter have just one match left to play, which is away to Halvergate, where a win would guarantee they retain the title. Halvergate still have three games to play before the league season comes to an end in December. January will see the start of the revamped Bure Cup which will be played on a league system for the first time. The points system will be similar to the old Tens League where total shots will be used to determine how many points are gained for each match.
