Norfolk Over 60's win latest challenge against Cambs Seniors

Norfolk Over 60’s entertained Cambridgeshire Seniors at Hingham for the second leg of their latest challenge match with Cambs naming twelve of the twenty bowlers who played against Norfolk Premier recently at the venue. Norfolk had a four point deficit to make up, after their narrow defeat at March IBC, and three wins from four games in the opening session left the teams level on points on aggregate. Cambs proved resilient though and the next two sessions were both shared leaving the teams still level at the halfway stage. The fourth session finally saw Norfolk Over 60’s pull ahead after three more wins and a repeat in session five put daylight between the two teams. The eighth and final session saw Norfolk win across all four mats leaving them celebrating a 34-14 points win on the day. Two Norfolk triples achieved maximum points on the day. Peter Grundy, Richard Moore & George Hume won by 9-6, 20-6 & 15-5 while Andrew Smith, Graham Mobbs & David Aldous won their games by 9-6, 7-5 & 10-8. Afterwards Norfolk’s Over 60’s Organiser Teresa Goldsmith thanked Cynthia for running the kitchen, Joan Costello for holding the raffle and Peter Walker for umpiring the match while saying how much Norfolk looked forward to their next challenge match in the New Year and wishing them all a safe journey home. As always it was a super day with all players enjoying their games and the company of the opposition.
