Carter beat Halvergate in thriller

Defending Bure League champions Bob Carter edged their way to a narrow 6-4 home win against Halvergate in a terrific match. Only two shots separated the sides at the end which earned Carter the two match points and a valuable victory. The first half was tied as Carter’s AJ Brown’s triple beat Paul Baker’s triple 14-12 while Ryan Fox skipped his Halvergate triple to a 10-8 win against Melly Woods. Jamie Forster, Robbie Lamb & David Lamb produced the goods for Halvergate after the break beating Gavin Gray, Jack Gray & Gary Best 13-7 but Carter got over the line with a 17-9 win by Nigel Willard, Morgan Warnes & Jason Woods against Keith Cooke’s triple. Once again the Bure League looks set to produce a great title fight with Bob Carter, Halvergate & Watton Expendables packed with current, and former, England internationals and a host of experienced County team bowlers. The withdrawal of both Horsford BC and Thorpe Marriott leaves Hevingham with a huge task to pick up points in the smallest, but toughest, league in the county.
