Norfolk have reluctantly decided to withdraw Norfolk “A” from the 2025-26 Inter-County Championships following a recommendation from Norfolk County Team Manager Jack Pye at a NCSMBA Management Committee meeting held at North Wymondham last night. In his report the Manager informed the Committee that the numbers attending the County Squad Trials held on the 18th May were disappointing and that the 42 players he considered of County Team standard was an insufficient number to continue to enter two teams. Several of the potential squad players had already informed the Manager of their unavailability for some dates in the fixture list and the financial implications of possible cancellations had to be taken into account. A long discussion took place with the Committee initially very reluctant to take the decision to end many years of Norfolk “A” participation in the I.C.C. It was recognised that the withdrawal of Norfolk “A” would impact a number of regular Norfolk “A” bowlers who have been proud to represent Norfolk for several years. After much discussion the NCSMBA Management Committee agreed that Norfolk “A” would be withdrawn from the I.C.C for the 2025-26 season but the situation would be reviewed for the 2026-27 season.
