Thetford got off to a winning start in the Friendly Summer Afternoon League winning their opening two fixtures. David Brown, Glynis Holbrook & Peter Scarbourgh could not have hoped for a better first game result as they won by a resounding 24-2 margin in their home fixture against Harling. Thetford’s other two wins came courtesy of a 15-5 result for Brian Jermy, Caroline Walker & Jason Martin and a 13-10 second half win for Jason Martin, Suzanne Kenny & Glynis Holbrook. Harling’s only win was delivered by Janet Marsh, Nigel Battley & Colin Hayman who won their game by 11-10. Thetford’s second match was away to Banham where they again won the match by 8-2 on points. Suzanne Kenny, Mike Holbrook & Jason Martin scored the games biggest win with a 15-3 victory. Caroline Walker, Peter Harvey & Glynis Holbrook won their game 17-8 while Jean Gardiner, David Brown & Peter Harvey won by 10-6. David Hall, Ron Butler & Bill Francis scored Banham’s only win by a convincing 16-8 margin. Banham got their first win of the season at home to Watton who they beat 6-4 with David Hall, Ron Butler & Bill Francis winning 15-6, Val Hambling, Carol Clarke & Jimmy Delaney winning 14-9 and Peter Hambling, Madge Tribe & Joe Li-Rocchi winning 14-9. Hingham won their opening match winning 6-4 away to Shropham. In the first half Pam Chapman, Will Townsend & John Chapman won 21-12 and after the interval John Chapman, Pat Groombridge & Will Townsend won 19-4.
