The long weekend of short mat bowls in Belfast opened on Friday with the Belfast Open Pairs being played to a finish. Adam Rankin & Robbie Foster won the final by 11-8 against Paul Duff & Shane Hand. Norfolkâs Jack Pye & AJ Brown lost to Duff and Hand by 8-6 in the first knock-out round after winning their group with three straight wins. Jack and AJ opened with a 14-6 win against Esther Forster & Ann Patton followed by a 23-2 win against Vanessa Armstrong & Elly Newman. In their last group game they defeated Michael Doorey & Ray Niblock 9-8.
