Costessey entertained Horsford Gold for the first leg of their City Shield semi-final match and emerged with a 6-2 points lead to take into the second leg. Wendy Tweed, Malcolm Southgate & Graham Tweed started well for Costessey beating Morgan Warnes’ Gold triple 13-7. Horsford Gold hit back though as Barbara Ayers, Brian West & Ray Ayers beat John Chapman’s triple 16-3. But the second half belonged to Costessey as Jill Townsend’s triple beat Mick Dale’s triple 9-6 and Cyril Cole, Mike Ottaway & Sheila Bragg beat John Bugg’s triple 11-5. The eventual winners of this two leg semi-final will face British Rail in the final.
