Breckland League pacesetters suffer first defeat

After a great season’s start of four straight wins Harling Griffins suffered their first defeat of the Breckland League campaign losing 8-2 away to local rivals Harling Unicorns. Mike Tarrant’s triple were the nights top scorers with a 21-8 win while Sid Burton’s triple scored the only Griffins win with an 18-8 scoreline. With three matches in five days it was a busy time for Harling Unicorns but they had little to cheer about in their other two games. They lost 10-0 at home to defending champions Wymondham with Hayley Osborne, John Jeffrey & Chris Mann romping to a 25-7 win. The Unicorns also went down 10-0 at Carleton Rode where Karl Newby’s triple won 24-4, Neil Davidson’s triple won 28-9, Tony Oram won 24-10 and Russell Davidson won by 12-11. Connaught also racked up the shots against Thetford in an 8-2 home win. They won the game with 102 shots against Thetford’s 30 as Paul McDonald’s triple won 35-5, Roy Taylor’s triple won 29-3 & Mike Minshull’s triple won 24-4. Jason Martin’s triple collected two points for the visitors with an 18-14 win.
