Norfolk "A" crush London 33-7

Norfolk “A” moved into cruise control as a devastating second half performance saw Inter-County Championship quarter-final opponents London blown away at Daventry. A tight first session saw the teams locked together at 4-4 on points with Connaught’s Sheila Bragg holding out to win 14-13 in the singles and Wymondham’s John Jeffery & Deaf Sports bowler Robin Amos winning their pairs game 15-7. Norfolk’s triples turned up the heat in the second session with Halvergate’s Donna Lamb, Ray Lamb & Steven Lamb winning 13-10 and Joan Costello, Graham Tweed & John Jarvis winning 10-7. Jenny Walker, Elaine Oatway, Melvyn Barker & Peter Walker gave Norfolk a 10-6 points lead at the interval when they won their rinks game 15-5. After the break it was one way traffic in the opening session as Robbie Lamb dominated his singles game with a brilliant 19-6 win and Sheila Bragg added a 14-8 win, her second victory of the day. In the pairs John Jeffrey & Robin Amos won again, this time by 16-12, while Thorpe Marriott’s Trevor & Janet Pinchen drew 10-10 to leave Norfolk “A” certain of victory. The final session was played, despite Norfolk already over the finishing line, and all four games went Norfolk’s way. Steven Lamb’s triple won 16-6, John Jarvis’ triple won 13-11, Peter Walker’s rink won 14-10 and Billie Barker, Jean Woods, Karl Newby & Terry Newby joined in the fun with a 9-3 win. The final score was 33-7 to Norfolk on points, 207-151 on shots. In the semi-finals Norfolk “A” will face Cheshire “A” who beat West Midlands “A” by a convincing 30-10 margin.
