DENNIS MOORE TOURNAMENT 2022

The annual Dennis Moore tournament was held on Sunday 13th March 2022, the singles and fours were held in the morning and the pairs and triples in the afternoon.

SINGLES

There were 6 singles playing in 2 leagues each playing 2 games with the winner progressing to the final.

Winner of league one was Connaught A Lee Fallows    2 points +7                          

Runner up of league one was    Thetford Chloe Suffolk      2 points +1

Winner of league two was Wymondham Chris Mann 4 points +19

Runner up of league two was Connaught B Joe Li Rocchi    1 point -6        

In the final

Lee Fallows took a single on the first end; Chris Mann responded by taking a single on the second, Lee took the next 3 ends by 3, 1, 2 to lead 7-1. Chris took a 2 on end 6 to cut the deficit; Lee took a single on the next end to lead 8-3. The next 3 ends went Chris’s way scoring 2, 3, 1 to level the score 8-8 with an end to play. Lee was 3 down with one wood to play; he played a running wood, but the jack moved sideways to Chris’s waiting wood, 9-8 to Chris.

FOURS

There were 8 fours playing in 2 leagues each playing 3 games with the winner progressing to the final.

Winner of league one was  Harling Unicorn, Mo Tarrant,R.Beckford,J.Kendall M.Tarrant 6 points +13

Runner up of league one was Thetford    K.Suffolk,S.College,C.Eke, M.College      4 points -8       

Winner of league two was Wymondham  H.Osborne,R.Steele,S.Easter.M.Barker  6 points+11            

Runner up of league two was Connaught A  E.Oatway,D.Aldous,O.Secker,P.McDonald 3 points +2

In third Place was Connaught B also 3 points + 2 but the A scored 17 shots for, and the B 15 shots for.

 In the final

Wymondham took the first 2 ends 2,1 Harling Unicorns took a single on the next, Wymondham responded with 2 on the 4th end, Harling  took 2 on the penultimate end, Wymondham took a single on the last to win 6-3.     

PAIRS

There were 8 pairs playing in two leagues each playing 3 games with the winner progressing to the finals

Winner of league one was   Wymondham A.Jackson and J.Sparham    6 Points +24                  

Runner up of league one was Harling Griffin C.Hayman and J.Hayman 3 Points +5

Winner of league two was Connaught A  Di. Quadling and S.Bragg  6 Points +8

Runner up of league two was Thetford P.Harvey and J.Martin 4 points +22        

In the final

Connaught took the first two ends to lead 3-0, Wymondham came back with a pair, Connaught scoring a single on end 4, a three on end 5 put Wymondham in the lead, Connaught hit back with two to lead again, only for Wymondham to score two to lead7-6 after 7 ends. A single to Connaught made it 7-7 after 8 ends. Wymondham won the last 2 ends by two shots each to win 11-7

TRIPLES

There were 8 triples playing in two leagues each playing 3 games with the winner progressing to the finals

Winner of league one was    Connaught A D.Quadling, M.Parsons, M.Minshull 4 Points +7                             

Runner up of league one was Shropham P.Gobbold,D.Green, M.Gobbold 4 Points 0 In third place also with 4 points was Connaught B M.Eades, J.Knox,P.King with -1 shots

Winner of league two was Wymondham, B.Barker,D.Sparham,O.Cranston

 Runner up of league two was Harling Unicorn V.Hester,C.Jones, T.Jones             

In the final

Wymondham took a single on the first end, Connaught replied with a single on the second. Wymondham scored one on the third, Connaught scored two on the 4th end to lead 3-2, but never scored again until the last end, where they picked up a consolation 3 shots, Wymondham winning 12-6
