I.C.C to revert to old format following survey

Following the survey conducted by the ESMBA in which bowlers were invited to submit their views on the format of the Inter-County Championships, the ESMBA Committee have decided to revert to the old I.C.C format. In the words of I.C.C Secretary Steve Bailey the results of the survey, which saw 64% come out in favour of the old format, came as a surprise to him and a few ESMBA committee members. Based on the support for the old system of two singles, two pairs, two triples and two fours, and the fact that the feedback came from a mixture of players and officials, it was decided to go back to this format for the 2022/23 season. A decision was made that the ESMBA Management Committee would not go back to member Counties due to the time constraints and the support shown for the old format. Competition entry forms for the 2022/23 season have now been sent to County contacts and must be returned by the end of April so that the groups and fixtures can be formulated.
