Forncett, Thetford and Horsford BC have now joined Connaught, First Bus and Hingham in gaining Safe Club status from the ESMBA making it six clubs already in the county ready to begin playing short mat bowls again. This should prove hugely encouraging to other NCSMBA clubs who are still studying the documentation which was recently supplied to them. NCSMBA Safeguarding Officer Teresa Goldsmith has reminded clubs that the first stage in the ESMBA Back to Bowls Action Plan allows clubs granted Safe Club certificates to be open for social roll ups with a maximum of four players per mat. The plan, which is fluid and a guideline only, plans for clubs to be allowed to take part in Inter club activities from December but guidelines will be issued by the ESMBA nearer the time. With inter club activities currently not allowed bowlers have been advised by Norfolk’s Safeguarding Officer that if they are a member of two or more of the clubs with certificates they must nominate which club they wish to play at until inter club activities are permitted. This is to minimise the risk of Covid-19 being spread between clubs while the pandemic continues.
