Connaught lose at home

Connaught never got into their stride at home to Kirby Bedon with the visitors gaining their first win of the campaign in the Tens League. Connaught’s Diane & Bill Adcock started well against Teresa & Selwyn Goldsmith and when the visiting pair started to find the mat Bill Adcock played some great last woods to frustrate them. But with one end remaining the score was now level at 10-10 and Bill Adcock was forced to go on the attack on the forehand, but it proved to be in vain as the Kirby pair collected five shots for a 15-10 win. On the other mat Connaught’s Di Quadling, Alison Rush & Mike Minshull also found themselves level going in to the final end against Kirby’s Billie Barker, Melvyn Barker & Terry Newby. A tense end saw the Kirby triple take shot for a 10-9 win leaving them six shots up at the break. Kirby Bedon started the second half strongly with Shirley Brown, Joan Costello & Joe Brown leading Caroline Lirocchi, Dave Quadling & Joe Lirocchi 12-2 after nine ends and Carol & John Aggas leading Elaine & Bob Oatway 10-5 after eight ends. Hopes of a maximum 4-0 away win started to fade after that with Joe Lirocchi’s triple storming back to eventually win 15-13. The Aggas pair also found themselves pegged back to 10-10 after ten ends but then won the last five ends for a 16-10 victory with Kirby Bedon collecting a 3-0 away win.
