Connaught "A" reach the Norwich Cup Final

In the Norwich Cup semi-final Connaught “A” had travelled to First Bus and held the home side to an 8-8 draw in their first leg tie. A superb first half performance by Connaught “A” in the second leg at Attleborough left First Bus reeling as Owen Secker’s triple won 16-7, Sheila Bragg’s triple won 13-7, Lee Fallows’ pair won 8-4 and Sylvia Parsons’ pair won 9-3. A 12-3 win for Diane Quadling, Richard Harrison & Sheila Bragg settled the issue in the first session after the break and Connaught “A” had earned themselves a place in the final against the winners of the Wymondham v Bob Carter semi-final. In the Bure League East Tuddenham won 8-2 at home to Horsford Heroes with Chrissie Turner, John Turner & Gary Best winning 20-6 against Peter Fox. Diss won 8-2 at Shropham in the SNL with Tony Oram’s triple winning 18-5. Coastal Cup leaders Woodbastwick Owls won 15-3 at Hemsby Beachcombers while second placed Woodbastwick Eagles won 12-6 at Hemsby Harvesters. In the City of Norwich League Horsford BC top the table on 202 points, Horsford Heroes are second on 163 and Jarrolds are third on 136 points. Wymondham were in great form at home to Forncett in the Breckland League recording a 10-0 win. Billie Barker, John Jeffery and Jon Sparham won 23-11 while Roger Steele, Brian Saunders and Jack Pye secured the biggest win of the night by 42-7. Second session saw Pat Saunders, Mark Linsdell and Debbie Sparham win 32-5 with Hayley Stratton, Melvyn Barker and Chris Mann adding a 28-10 result. Carleton Rode beat Harling Griffins 10-0 with Neil Davidson’s triple winning 23-4.
