Wymondham edge out Halvergate in challenge cup

Wymondham progressed through to the semi finals of the challenge cup with a session to spare as Jack Pye won both his singles match's to give his home side the advantage with wins of 18-5 in the first session against Robbie Lamb and then added that with an 11-7 win against Keith Cooke. Chris Mann came from 4-0 behind to draw 11-11 against Keith Cooke and then beat Robbie Lamb 13-4 in the second session. The first session of fours saw Halvergate push Wymondham as both last ends saw the away side holding game winning positions but Roger Steele, Brian Saunders, John Jeffery and Jon Sparham managed to beat Gary High, Ray Lamb, Morgan Warnes and David Lamb 6-5. But Jackie Smith, David Knights, Steven Lamb and Simon Warnes did produce four shots on the last end to beat Pat Saunders, Billie Barker, Melvyn Barker and Mark Linsdell 6-8 but in the end that win alone was not enough in the first session.
