Thorpe Marriott have made a great start to the Bure League season winning their opening matches. They won 9-1 at Windows where Jenny Walker, Ted Redwood & John Jarvis led the way beating Keith Halford’s triple 20-5 aided by Janet Pinchen, Trevor Pinchen & George Clarke who beat Mike Boswell’s triple 22-8 and Sylvia Turner’s triple who won by 18-11. Brenda Sizer, Pam Daynes & Di Boswell collected Window’s only point holding Richard Perkins to a 12-12 draw. In their second game Marriott entertained a new look Horsford Heroes side containing new signings Carol & John Aggas formerly of the now defunct Kirby Bedon. Thorpe Marriott made home advantage count with George Clarke’s triple beating Mick Dale 18-9, Kath Frost’s triple beating Vic Webster 12-8, John Jarvis beating John Aggas 11-8 and Richard Perkins beating Roger Frank 15-13. In the Bure Cup Horsford Heroes took a commanding 19-5 first leg win against Horsford BC. Mally Kemp, Sue Fox & Vic Webster were in great form winning their games by 15-1, 4-3 & 5-1. Also unbeaten for the Heroes were Peter Fox’s triple who won two games and drew one.
