Breckland 5 Pairs
Wymondham eased into the final of the Breckland 5 Pairs with a comfortable 70-24 home win against Connaught “A” in the second leg of their semi-final. Already 40-31 ahead after the first leg in Attleborough it proved to be one way traffic at Wymondham’s North Wymondham venue. Steve Easter & Debbie Sparham put any thoughts Connaught had of upsetting the odds with a blistering performance against Steve Judd & Simon Willies as they stormed to a 22-3 win while Billie Barker & Jack Pye added a more conservative win of 12-4 against Paul McDonald & Richard Harrison. The remaining three pairs games were also won by Wymondham with Melvyn Barker & Jack Marshall beating Derek Lyles & Mike Minshull 14-6, Hayley Osborne & AJ Pye winning 9-6 against Elaine Willies & Bob Oatway and John Jeffery & Jon Sparham beating Graham Etteridge & Richard Taylor 13-5. The final against Harling will take place at Hingham on the 16th April.
Breckland League
Wymondham, already crowned as Breckland League champions, played their last league match of the season at Forncett after having won 15 out of 15 games. Their bid to make it a perfect season though faltered at the last hurdle as they went down 6-4 on points winning on just one mat. That win though was a huge 25-9 shots margin earned by David Chadwick, Debbie Sparham & Jack Pye against Nigel Youngman’s triple and that earned Wymondham the 2 match points. Forncett won the other three games courtesy of a 15-11 win for Joe Larocchi’s triple against AJ Pye, another 15-11 win by Peter Lock’s triple against Chris Mann and a 12-9 win by Mark Watson’s triple against Jon Sparham. The result finally brought Wymondham’s incredible unbeaten league run to an end. Wymondham’s last league defeat was way back in the 2022-23 season when they went down 8-2 away to Connaught “A” in a late season match. In the weeks other game Carleton Rode won 8-2 at home to Hingham and finish fourth in the table. Jill Davidson, Russell Davidson & Trish Taylor topped the scoring list with a 22-10 win against John Chapman's triple while Terry Newby's triple won 17-9 and Karl Newby's triple won 16-13. Joy Townsend's Hingham triple collected their two points with a 15-14 win.

Debbie Sparham - superb wins of 22-3 & 25-9
