Due to circumstances out of our control the Norfolk Over 60’s Squad Day set to take place at Hingham Sports Centre this Thursday (2nd April) has been cancelled. This is due to the work taking place on the floor in the Sports Hall overrunning by several days. The next Over 60’s Squad Day will take place on Thursday 9th April and we hope to see you all then. Once again our apologies but hopefully having a new floor will make the delay worth it. If you could spread the word among other short mat bowlers to save them a trip to Hingham for nothing it would be appreciated I am sure.
The following information was received this afternoon from the HPFA Secretary which provides full details of the delay which you may find informative.
At present, the third court still has patches that are tacky and unable to be line painted. The first two courts have badminton lines painted and await application of the pickleball kitchen line which the contractor intends to complete this evening. It is unlikely that the third court will be line painted tonight, which means this work will hopefully be completed tomorrow morning. There remains some touching up/light sanding around edges to be completed before the floor will be finished with two coats of lacquer. The lacquer is water based and the second coat can usually be applied around 1-2 hours after the first, the second coat takes longer to fully dry as it is thicker. We have pressed the contractor for a view as to whether the surface will be playable on Thursday and he is unable to guarantee this given the current weather conditions. He is, however, confident that the hall will be ready for use on Friday. Given this information, the committee has decided to cancel all bookings for Thursday now, firstly so that we can give all parties reasonable notice. We have also arranged for professional industrial cleaners to attend on Thursday to clean balcony ledges/fencing /carpets and walls of dust. Tracey and I have spent considerable time today cleaning furniture on the balcony but there are areas that require further industrial vacuuming with hepa filters. I'm sure you will be disappointed to hear this but hope you understand. We can only apologise for the delay in completing the works but look forward to welcoming you very soon.
