It is a big weekend for Norfolk short mat bowlers as Sunday sees defending I.C.C champions Norfolk face West Mids Phoenix in what promises to be a great match between two top class teams. The match will take place at Solihull IBC on Sunday where Player-Manager and England International Jack Pye will lead Norfolk into battle in their biggest game of the I.C.C season so far. The SMPT English Masters event also takes place this weekend at the Falcon Bowling and Social Club in Chelmsford. Three Norfolk bowlers are taking part with Wymondham’s John Jeffery drawn in Group 11 where he will face tough opposition including Ireland’s Gary McNabb and England’s Mitchell Young. George Hume of Harling did well in his last SMPT appearance and will hope to take that fine form into this event. George has been drawn in Group 19 where he faces Nigel Charles in his first game at 9.50am. Craig Quantock of Horsford BC appears in his first SMPT event and has been drawn in Group 26 which on paper should give him a real chance of progressing into the main competition. Craig’s first game is against Melvin Simpson at 10.40am.

A great moment for Norfolk's Management Team last season
