Connaught “A” are now just two points behind Breckland League leaders Wymondham after a maximum 10-0 away win at Hingham. The result matched Wymondham’s run of five straight wins and raises the prospect of a return to the glory days of a team that once dominated the league in a time when Wymondham tended to struggle near the bottom end of the table. Elaine Willies, Roy Taylor & Simon Willies led the way with an excellent 23-8 win against Joy Townsend’s triple while an equally impressive 22-8 win for David Aldous, Graham Etteridge & Paul McDonald against John Chapman’s triple piled on the shots. Derek Liles, Steve Judd & Mike Minshall added a 20-14 win and Jenny Moon, Richard Harrison & Bob Oatway won 17-12. Thetford are in third place after winning 10-0 at home to Connaught “B” while racking up 89 shots against 35. Top scoring were Erika Thomas, Peter Scarborough & Neil Thomas who won 29-1 and David Brown, Chris West & Jason Martin who won 29-6. Peter Harvey’s triple won by 14-12 and Chloe Suffolk’s triple won by 17-16. Harling are through to the semi-finals of the Breckland Five Pairs. They went to Shropham holding a 23 shot lead from the first leg and despite losing 40-31 progress through to the next round with an aggregate 85-71 victory. The biggest win of the night though was by Shropham’s Philip Drake & John Griffiths who won 14-4. Barbara Smith & Paul Rogers secured Harling’s only win on Shropham’s mats with an 8-4 result.
