Deaf Sports inflict painful home defeat on Halvergate

Deaf Sports pulled off a superb 8-0 away win at Halvergate in their Summer League Division One match. It was a bad night for Halvergate who started with a player short which left Steven Lamb & Keith Cooke at a great disadvantage. Cooke’s pair slipped to a 20-13 defeat against Lesley Crowe, Rob Cranston & Laura Hawksworth in their first game while David Knights, Ray Lamb & Robbie Lamb were also beaten after dropping three shots on the last end against Gillian Amos, Colin Coman & Robin Amos to lose 17-15. In the second half Lamb & Cooke looked set to overcome playing with a missing bowler when they led Robin Amos’ triple 7-3 after nine ends but then managed to lose four of the last five ends to slip to a 12-11 defeat. Halvergate’s misery was compounded in the remaining game when Laura Hawksworth’s triple beat Robbie Lamb 16-11. In another Division One clash Kirby Bedon let a 4-0 first half lead at Thorpe Marriott slip as the home side fought back to draw the match 4-4. Jimmy Dye, Shirley Brown & Joe Brown opened with a 12-9 win against John Jarvis while Jill Watson, Phil Watson & John Aggas beat Kath Frost 12-11 to make it a perfect first half for Kirby Bedon. Thorpe Marriott came out fighting after the interval though with Sheila Redwood, Richard Perkins & Kath Frost beating Gerald Chilvers 15-12 and Marjorie Hall, Mandy Marshall & John Jarvis beating John Aggas 13-9.
