The NCSMBA are deeply saddened to announce the death of the Association’s highly respected and long serving President Brian Saunders. He passed away peacefully this morning at the Norfolk & Norwich Hospital. Brian, a member of Wymondham SMBC, was elected as Norfolk CSMBA President in 2011 and dedicated much of his time to the advancement of short mat bowls in Norfolk. He also served as Norfolk Vice-Chairman from 2003 until 2018. As Norfolk County Team Manager he worked tirelessly to encourage young players into the team such as Jack Pye and Chris Mann and his commitment and work at Wymondham SMBC led to them establishing themselves as a dominant force in Norfolk short mat bowls. His integrity and wise counsel was of huge benefit to the NCSMBA Management Committee where he was a huge support to Officers especially to Chairman Selwyn Goldsmith who he worked closely with for many years both as Vice-Chairman and President. He was also a great supporter, and member, of the Norfolk Over 60’s Squad. His passing will leave a great void in the Association for which he devoted so much of his energy and time. The NCSMBA would like to express their heartfelt sympathy to his Pat and their family at this sad time. Rest in Peace dear friend. Funeral details will appear on this site at a later date.
