Stout resistance from Thetford but maximum for Wymondham

Wymondham held off a strong challenge by the home side at Thetford before collecting all ten points. Breckland League leaders Wymondham tend to brush aside most teams but found Thetford in bullish mood as three of the four games could have gone either way. Wymondham’s Billie Barker, Jack Pye & AJ Brown edged home by just 12-11 against Thetford’s Caralyn Walker, Kacey Suffolk & Chloe Suffolk while John Jeffery, David Chadwick & Jon Sparham were also put under pressure before winning 14-13 against Michael Holbrook, Michael Colledge & Linda Dixon. Another close encounter saw Steve Easter, Trevor Brown & Debbie Sparham win 16-14 against Clive Eke, Peter Harvey & Jason Martin. The match points were secured for Wymondham by Jack Marshall, Melvyn Barker & Chris Mann who produced a 24-9 win against Peter Scarbough’s triple. The result leaves Wymondham 29 points clear at the top of the league with a massive +459 shot difference. Connaught moved into third place with an 8-2 home win against Harling Unicorns. Leading the way were David Aldous, Richard Broad & Paul McDonald with a thumping 24-5 win against Joe Lirocchi’s triple while Simon Willies won 19-13 against Roger Braham and Mike Minshull won 18-12 against Ian Beckford. Mike Tarrent’s triple collected Harling’s two points with a 16-8 win against Bob Oatway.
