Thetford top Afternoon Summer League

A 10-0 maximum points win for Thetford at Harling has moved Thetford to the top of the Afternoon Summer League. Peter Harvey’s triple led the way with a 13-7 win against Roger Braham’s triple and Peter Scarborough’s triple beat Graham Whetton 12-7 to complete a perfect first half. After the break up and coming star Chloe Suffolk and her triple beat George Hume’s triple 15-11 and all ten points were secured when Jason Martin beat Glen Hume 11-8. Hingham enjoyed an 8-2 away win at Shropham where the only home skip to taste success was Andy Rawnsley who skipped his triple to a 10-8 win against former Norfolk bowler Sheila Bragg. For Hingham Will Townsend won 10-6, Graham Tweed won 14-11 and Mike Otteway won by 13-7. Shropham’s previous match saw them record an 8-2 win at Thetford where Dave Quadling’s triple won 15-9, Jim Delaney’s triple won 11-7 and David Aldous won 12-8. Peter Scarborough was the only Thetford skip to win beating Andy Rawnsley 12-6. Hingham were held to a 5-5 draw at home to Thetford after the visitors earned the two match points scoring 37 shots to the home sides 35. Colin Short and Graham Tweed both won for Hingham while Jason Martin won for Thetford. In the remaining game Sheila Bragg and Peter Harvey drew 8-8.
