Norfolk Over 60's enjoy away trip to Cambs

With no Eastern England Over 60’s League matches being played this season Norfolk Over 60’s visited March IBC for a friendly match away to Cambridgeshire Seniors.  As always it was great to see old friends in what is always a very enjoyable fixture. The teams comprised of eight triples each, playing three games per triple, over six sessions. The first three sessions all resulted in 6-2 point wins for Norfolk with a 5-3 win in session four taking Norfolk’s lead to 23-9 on points, 140-99 on shots. Cambs tasted their first session win as they won two games and drew one in session five for a 5-3 points win but Norfolk finished the day as they started with another 6-2 win in the final session. The final score was 34-16 on points, 210-166 on shots, to Norfolk Over 60’s. Two Norfolk triples scored maximum points. Geoff Payne of Saxlingham Nethergate, David Chadwick of Wymondham and Selwyn Goldsmith of Hevingham won by 7-6, 15-3 and 7-6 while Will Townsend of Hingham, Teresa Goldsmith of Hevingham and Terry Newby of Carleton Rode won by 11-3 and 8-6 in their first two games. Reserve Nigel James of Taverham substituted for Teresa in the last session where Terry Newby’s triple staged a memorable comeback to win 7-6. Also unbeaten were Dave Quadling, Di Quadling of Connaught and Pauline Wilson of Hingham who recorded two wins and a draw as did Jenny Walker of Thorpe Marriott, Billie Barker of Wymondham and Jane James of Taverham.
